After 8 years of working in naval nuclear power plants where I could keep almost a full tool belt on every day it has been quite difficult adjusting to only having a few items on my belt. The combination of the Leatherman Wave along with this bit assortment has helped me maintain the work anywhere usefulness I was used to without looking odd in the civilian world.
Like several other reviewers to prevent from having too many sheaths on my belt I sorted through the bits to make one holders worth of the most common bits that I keep in same sheath as my Leatherman Wave.
Though a Leatherman and these bits will not replace a well stocked tool kit they will allow for rapid fixes on the spot. A real time saver.

These tool bits are hardened steel, and work great. I fix machines for a living. While this is not my primary tool kit, I can not begin to count how many times I opted to reach for my Leatherman, and pop in one of these bits. If I lost my toolbag, I bet I could work fine with just my Leatherman and these bits. The original sheath, which came with the "new" wave tool has room to comfortably hold one plastic holder and the tool. So, I put all the bits I normally need in one holder, and carry that in the sheath. I use these with a "new" wave tool. If this kit is compatable with your tool, by all means, get it, or put it on your gift list for Christmas. It expands the functionality of the Leatherman tool by leaps and bounds.Customer Review: Cant have too many tools

I bought the bit assortment for my Charge about a month ago. The reason I bought it is because I broke the my eyeglass screwdriver. I found it was way more cost effective to buy the kit (cost per bit) then to buy the one bit, if you can find it. I now have expanded the capacity of my Leatherman by something like 30 tools. I build and remodel houses for a living, and I could not venture to guess how many times I did not have to look farther than my belt to open a switch box, remove a torks bolt, tighten an allen screw, and on and on. Worth its weight in gold would be an understatement. If you have a Leatherman Charge you know it's value. Buy the bit set!

Customer Review: 42 tools + in the palm of your hand !

Ok, I admit being a tool freak.
Having said that you should also realize that I have owned thousands of knives and tools over a lifetime.
The Leatherman Surge and 42 piece bit assortment is without exception the most powerful combination that I've ever been able to hold in one hand.
This set has become my main travel set as well as being used in my survival kit for here in the mountains.
For light use the Swiss Army knives work well, for heavy use I prefer the Leatherman.
One thing that I would like to see is a sheath that holds this bit set as well as the knife.
Now there are separate.
Get out, have fun, enjoy life but like they say in Boy Scouts: " Be Prepared "
Customer Review: Very useful accessories to Leatherman tools

I have owned many Leathermans and always carry one of these tools with me, wherever I go. Their quality is excellent; but I have sometimes needed tool bits not found as a standard feature of tools such as the Wave, the Surge, the Charge. This 40 bit assortment, which can be carried on a belt in a robust nylon patch, fills that gap.
Since obtaining this set I have used the large and small flat-head screwdriver bits and the tiny Phillips bit to open up my watch to replace its battery and to tighten my spectacles screws. There is a useful assortment of allen or hex key drivers, too. These tools and these bits, whilst of general application, will be particularly appreciated by outdoors people.
