First off, I don't or won't be using the lanyard ring (because, then I can't use the pocket clip (the tool I have (Leatherman wave) only has one slot for these quick release things, not sure if other Leatherman tools have more than one slot though), and because it already has a lanyard ring on the tool itself). Therefore, this is really only about the clip.
My fears about it coming out by itself were unfounded (I thought that when I went to use the tool, and pulled out something I needed, the clip might slip out of its place, which hasn't happened yet).
I'm very happy with this, personally, it got so I couldn't be bothered to put the belt case that came with my Leatherman on everyday, so I got this and now I just slip this in my pocket and I'm good to go. Just made the best tool I've ever had even better.

I have used the Leatherman SideClip for 5+ years. The clip was probably why I used my LeatherMan so much. Without a clip, you either have to dig for your tool deep in your pocket and wear holes in your pants or wear the bulky (but good quality) pouch suplied with the tool. The clip option, which I bought for the Wave, puts the tool in the same spot my Sideclip has resided for years. It accesses easily, keeps it close to your body, keeps it discrete, and lessens the posibility of losing it. The pouch is easy to catch on anything you walk by and sticks out like a sore thumb. I have had buddies with the pouch on their belt get denied entrace to establishments/concerts because they had a "weapon". A quick hand movement over the exposed clip has enabled me to go anywhere (minus airplanes) without being hassled.Customer Review: Pocket Clip and Lanyard Ring

The ring and clip are good quality pieces, nice and thick, and they fit snugly into their place on my 25th Anniversary Wave. With a push of the lever, either of the two is easily attachable or detachable.
I rely on the lanyard ring to keep my tool from falling into the river while I'm working on my boat. The pocket clip comes in handy to keep my tool from wandering about and getting scratched and from scratching up against other items in either my shirt or pants pockets.
I saved this set in my Amazon Cart until I bought other items which qualified me for Amazon's free shipping. It's a great way to go for a nice deal!
I recommend the Leatherman quick-release pocket clip and lanyard ring.

simple add on that makes the wave much more practical for carrying in a pocket of shorts or khakis at work. personally not a fan of belt-mounted holsters, always seem to be in the way, catch on stuff, etc. I never have a day go by that I don't use the wave for something unexpected so I want it with me. the tool on its own is too bulky to comfortably fit in a pants pocket, but the clip holds it vertical and easy to get at when needed. don't really use the lanyard ring so can't comment on that. have found the tool will open some (exposes pliers) in my pocket if I have to run after something, but that is small trade off for the rest of the time that its right there ready to go.Customer Review: Much better now!

I just got my new Leatherman Wave & couldn't wait to get this pocket clip because carrying it in the belt sheath just isn't me. I can't comment on the lanyard ring because I don't plan on using it, just going in the drawer for now. This pocket clip allows me to carry my Wave with a "lower profile" & that's what I wanted. It doesn't pull your pocket down or anything, keeps it right where you need it & looks really good when attached. One concern I had about it was that it would get in the way when using the tool, luckily it's not an issue with this clip. If you're like me & don't want to carry your Leatherman in the belt sheath, get this clip, you won't be disappointed.
