Tools and Hardware Reviews of Leatherman 830039 New Wave Multitool with Leather/Nylon Combination Sheath

Customer Review: Wave observations
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had several Leatherman's and Gerber and all were adequate and quite handy when I needed them. That being said, I have to give the best rating to the Leatherman New Wave for several reasons. First the two blades are on the outside of the handles along with the file and the saw. The other tools are inside the handles. The tools work well including the pliers. The only down side is they are a little heavy to carry in a pocket so use the pouch for every day carry. You can't go wrong with the Wave...it does what's advertised. I really like having this tool handy and carrying it just takes some getting use to.Saves a lot of steps.

Customer Review: An essential tool
Summary: 5 Stars

I owned the previous Wave for 6 years and used it every day in my work as an auto mechanic. It was tough, durable, convenient, and really useful... Then I lost it one day !!! I was disgusted and immediately set about buying another. I purchased the new wave with the leather sheath. Put simply, it is even better than the original, just as useful, but even tougher and easier to use. I like the bigger easier opening blades, the clever built in tool adaptor, the fact that all the blades and tools now lock, and the revised sheath design. They improved the original without losing it's appeal. I just hope I never lose this one !!

Customer Review: Quality Tool
Summary: 5 Stars

The Leatherman is a useful tool to have on your belt. I don't use all the features regularly, but it's handy having screwdrivers, pliers, scissors and a knife on you at all times!

It's well designed. For example, on my other multi-tools you have to unfold the handles (opening the pliers) to get at a knife blade. On the leatherman you can open the knife with the tool in the "folded" position, which is handy if you use the knife regularly (which I do).

It is much heavier than the knockoff all-in-one tools, so it takes a bit of getting used to on your belt, but well worth it!

Customer Review: Worth the Price
Summary: 5 Stars

I recieved a Bucktool six years ago and wore it every day and used it daily and loved it. During a moment of stupidity [very rare for me, no fair asking the wife] I broke one of the knife blades off. So I have been thinking of a new one for some time. I decided since it was Christmas I would give the wave a try. Needless to say it arrived and went straight to my belt [saved wrapping paper]. I love that you can open both knives, the saw and the file without opening the pliers and this baby is lodaded with tools. It is shorter than my buck tool and weighs about the same.
No complaints so far.

Customer Review: Best Leatherman so far
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using Leatherman multitools since 1984 as a Seaman in the Coast Guard and in my opinion, this is the best so far with the exception of the eyeglasses flat tip screw driver in place of the small flat tip on the Wave 1. I used the small flat tip every day to adjust the small terminal screws on circuit board connections. The eyeglasses flat tip is to small for that application and the large flat tip is to big. That is my only complaint for this tool. For the average person not using the tool to tighten conections on circuit boards, it will meet or exceed all of your expectations.
