Tools and Hardware Reviews of Leatherman 830039 New Wave Multitool with Leather/Nylon Combination SheathCustomer Review: The right tool for every job Summary: 5 Stars
I had a Gerber multi-tool before and it was useful, but lacked the scissors and the small screwdrivers, plus the blades were smaller. I work in IT and also I tinker with many things personally, from cars to home improvemant: there is not a day where I don't pull out my Wave for something. I also carry the Squirt ES4 attached to my keychain, and I use that regularly as well. I've had the Wave for almost 2 years and it has performed flawlessly. I use it when I take my son fishing as well, the pliers pull out hooks, the cutter blade was useful more than once cutting snagged ropes and lines, plus freeing a tangled pelican. Just make sure you don't drop it on your foot with the knife blade open, as it has a tendency to fall with the tip straight down. Ouch.. :)
Customer Review: Perfect EDC for me Summary: 5 Stars
i spent days reasearcing multi-tools and finnaly decided on the leatherman wave. it has all the features i use daily and then some. i tryed carrying a victornox deluxe tinker but the pliers just didnt cut it, plus the tinker was bulky and has no means to carry it conveniently. the leather came with a decent leather sheath that will break in with some use im sure, i also baought the optional pocket clip jsut in case.
the greatest thing i like about the wave is that ALL the tools firmly lock into place and unlock safely, and i feel that with the leatherman i can get rough with it and it will have no problems what so ever,
i would strongly reccomend buying this over a victornox anyday!!!
oh btw for [...] bucks you cant go wrong!
Customer Review: Leatherman Wave Multitool Summary: 5 Stars
Leatherman 830040 New Wave Multi-Tool with Nylon Sheath I have carried and used multitool for many years. As a contractor in Histotical Preservation and conservation, I put my multitool to hard and constant use. My last purchase of this type tool was in the late 1990's and was a Buck Tool. Only in the last couple of years did wear begin to take its toll. For more than a year I looked at new units. I choose the Wave because it serves my needs and it addresses the wear and tear issues of the unit I had. I really like the screw driver set-up and the extra bits. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase and look forward to years of use.
Customer Review: Great multitool Summary: 5 Stars
I have several of these around the house and the cars. I have also given many as gifts. Well made and have enough tools to handle most small repairs. If I had to complain about anything it is that it's a little too heavy to carry comfortably in your pocket all day. No problem if you use the belt sheath though. I also have the Skeletool which is much more pocketable, but also has fewer tools. As other reviewers have said, this also makes a great gift for the handyman/handywoman or outdoorsman. It's a good idea to use a little lubricant to make it operate more smoothly. Also, be careful when opening the blade with one hand. I found out the hard way how sharp it is. If you don't have one of these, you should buy one.
Customer Review: The best multitool out there! Summary: 5 Stars
Whay can I say, I own many different models of the Leatherman multitool and they are all good. The wave is a favorite of my mine because of the amount of useful tools on it. The 25 year warranty on all leatherman products let's you know the company stands behind thier product. There are many manufacturers of multitools out there but none can match the quality and craftsmanship of the Leatherman. SOG makes a decent multitool but if I had to choose it would be the Leatherman every time! This multitool is a great companion to a good fixed blade for carry in the outdoors or on the trail. If you are in the market for the best multitool out there than look no further than a Leatherman, it's a no brainer!
