I'm a long time happy user of the classic Leatherman over the past 25 years or so. Bought a Wave on spec and to have a backup. I seem to lose a tool every 5 years or so. The last one went to TSA after forgetting to pack it with my checked luggage. I'm very happy with the Wave, which immediately became my Leatherman of choice. The same high quality materials and workmanship I've come to expect from a Leatherman. But the design is far superior. Unlike the classic, every tool on the Wave has positive locking. Having knife blades on the outside rather than inside is also a plus. The only downside for me compared with the classic is more weight. More than compensated for by the increased functionality, IMHO. My classic is now in the drawer as a backup. The Wave is my preferred "toolbox" now, and I can't imagine being without it.Customer Review: Utility.

This is one of the most important pieces of gear I have ever bought. It's saved my life on countless occasions, and has helped me get out of less sticky jams. Everything from tightening your sunglass hinge to building a shelter. My advise if you're interested in purchasing, would be to buy the pocket clip. The sheath is nice, but the pocket clip is very convenient and only costs about $5.00. I'll give you a warning though... Once you've had it in your pocket for a week or so, your pants won't feel right without its weight, and once you've used it a couple of times you'll find a use for it daily. I recently bought two of these for my buddies. Rather than telling them your welcome when they said thank you, I had to be honest and tell them sorry... You'll understand what I mean the first time you leave it at home.Customer Review: Quality is worth the price

I initially purchased a Leatherman knock-off from Wal-Mart for half the cost of this one. The overall quality was poor, the case was complete junk, and the tool didn't have nearly as many features.
The real Leatherman was more money but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". The quality of the tool was quite remarkable and I am glad I spent the extra money. The tool itelf is made in USA but the leather case is made in China and it was quite stiff. I'm sure I could have used some sort of oil to soften it up a bit but instead I bought the nylon case separately and I really like it. Both the leather and nylon cases have the hole in the bottom, which enables you to store the tool on your belt with the pliers sticking out. This is a nice feature when you are using the pliers a lot.

I own a few multitools and think this is one of the better ones I have owned. I mainly carry the Juice S2 but when I know I might need something a little more heavy duty like hiking or camping, I use the Wave. I am always surprised when I read reviews where people complain that they can't replace their entire tool box with it, or that it not as good as the real tool...Duh. They are great for what they are, to use for small jobs or in a pinch when no other tools are handy. I use mine a lot for computer work and find both the S2 and Wave to be sufficient for about 90% of my work. I really like the blades, they are very sharp and well made. Several other companies have started producing their multitools in China and it is starting to show in their quality. Stick with Leatherman, it's American made.Customer Review: About the case...

I recently purchased this product and thought the case wasn't too bad. Just to add, since there are already quite a few reviews, i placed the Brightest Mini Pocket Keychain Size CREE LED Flashlight Runs on 1 AAA Battery with on / off Switch and Lanyard in one of the side pockets. Its on amazon and is the brightest little flashlight i've ever seen. It fits in one of the side pockets perfectly. Its a nice little addition to this already awesome tool. I'm still trying to figure out what to put in the other side pocket. Overall I think this is going to be an excellent investment.
**Update
I placed a mini bic lighter in the middle pocket. So that gives you this awesome multitool with an amazing flashlight and fire all in one convenient place. Whats not to like there!
