Tools and Hardware Reviews of Leatherman 830018 Kick Pocket Multi-Tool with Leather SheathCustomer Review: It is better than some of the cheap chinese models out there... Summary: 3 Stars
I bought mine as a replacement for my Sideclip (thought it was lost, found it!) and it does a fine job of giving you a helping hand; however I still favor my Sideclip. This would be an excellent replacement if Leatherman included the pocket clip; I purchased that separately much to my dismay. I will keep it in one toolbox but continue to carry my trusty Sideclip.
Customer Review: Nice pliers and knife Summary: 3 Stars
This is one of the smaller Leatherman tools. It has a nice needlenose pliers part, and one nice sharp knife blade. There are also a few smaller tools(screwdrivers mostly) which I find difficult to get out using just my fingernails.
Customer Review: Keep the packaging handy for return Summary: 1 Stars
This is NOT a leatherman with fewer bits. Read on.
This is my third (or fourth?) leatherman and a first unusable one. I regret to give it a single star: I don't think I've given
a single star review here ever in the worst of my moods. Here is why: you need a separate flat blade screwdriver
to open the can/bottle opener bit. Kind of defeats the purpose of a multitool? Opening philips bit is a struggle
but you can coerce it to open. The tension on the other handle seems ok so knife and flat screwdrivers could
be extracted with reasonable effort.
If you really want to go the minimalistic route get one local and keep the packaging ready.
This being leatherman i have thoughtlessly ditched the packaging pronto and now am stuck with this piece of garbage
(bought from a local sporting goods store). Arghhhhhh!!!!!
The second Kick I bought a a present together with the first one I got for myself
has exact same "feature" except the second handle with knife and flat screwdrivers
is also very tight. I'm glad I checked before giving this as a present.
This is pure trash. Gotta love the 30 day return policy crafted at the down of the cheap junk influx on these shores
to protect customers from the goods just like this one.
I'm considering getting Wave/Fuse or switching to victrinox altogether to avoid issues with leatherman
quality controls that seem to be absent for Kick.
